Oracle Enterprise Demand-to-Build Application Training in the Manufacturing Industry

Client

CARA’s client is a world-leading manufacturer of high-quality products for wiring and communications
applications.

Challenge

This client was in the process of implementing all of the demand-to-build functions of Oracle enterprise software. The new system would affect the performance of the client’s 3500 global workforce members. CARA was asked to recommend a customized learning solution that supported the client’s business goals and
objectives, and provided performance-based learning that effectively transferred new skills and knowledge
into user productivity.

Solution

The CARA instructional design team initially reviewed internal documents that represented the size and scope of the project. Ultimately, the team met with subject matter experts (SMEs) to validate the job roles impacted
by the Oracle implementation, to define the content and curriculum, and to validate the depth, delivery method
and duration of the training required.


The CARA team consisted of three senior instructional designers and an editor. Working closely with the client’s functional team SMEs, in less than three months, CARA was able to develop and deliver a customized learning solution, tailored specifically to the needs of each functional group of users.

The CARA team:

  • Documented the change to business processes resulting from the Oracle implementation
  • Developed customized instructor-led training materials which documented the new business processes, the rationale for changes to the business, procedural steps for performing job activities within Oracle, and hands-on exercises that mirrored the organization’s real-life business scenarios
  • Created facilitator guides with comprehensive instructor notes
  • Created job aids for quick and easy reference
  • Developed presentation materials
  • Trained the client SMEs to facilitate the training
  • Partnered with client SMEs to deliver the initial rounds of training
  • Created post-training testing to evaluate the users’ job readiness

Results

This client continues to partner with CARA with opportunities to fulfill additional requirements within
their learning organization.
