Technical Communication

CARA’s clients are looking for technical writers with 4+ years of experience. A Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in technical writing, English, or related field is preferred.


  • Collaborate with client to define documentation needs and develop documentation according to the client’s standards
  • Create new or modify existing technical documents that are complex in nature
  • Develop user guides, procedure manuals and training materials
  • Edit documents and ensure that standards of quality, format and style are met
  • Coordinate large production efforts
  • Maintain and track multiple documents, ensure consistency and standardization
  • Provide quality control for all documentation; standardize documentation to the client’s format
  • Determine appropriate delivery method to achieve desired performance (online documentation, online help, job aids, procedure guides and reference materials)
  • Organize material and complete writing assignment according to set standards regarding order, clarity, conciseness, style and terminology
  • Assist in laying out material for publication


  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work with document author and customer management to understand content is essential
  • Ability to interact frequently with IS personnel
  • Strong consulting skills and experience working with SMEs and stakeholders
  • Strong technical knowledge
  • Knowledge of information mapping

Knowledge of the following or similar applications is also required:

  • Framemaker, RoboHelp, RoboDemo, MS Office, Photoshop
