The CARA Group, Inc. Supports Pancreatic Cancer again at Purplestride Chicago 2018!
March 12, 2018
Oak Brook, IL – The CARA Group, Inc is proud to support the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (PanCAN) at PurpleStride Chicago, the walk to end pancreatic cancer again in 2018. This year’s 5K walk or run will be held on June 24th at Soldier Field in Chicago. CARA’s support was started by CARA’s co-founder, Jane Ehrenstrom, who lost her mother and brother to this 3rd deadliest of all cancers.
Pancreatic cancer is the nation’s toughest cancer with a five-year survival rate of just 9%. Each person who dies from pancreatic cancer – an estimated 55,440 Americans this year – is a mother, daughter, father, son, sister, brother, colleague or friend. PanCAN fights for every one of them. Sadly today, 73% of patients die within the first year of diagnosis. More research is need to change those statistics, and only 2% of the National Cancer Institute’s budget is allocated to fund pancreatic cancer research. Private donations are crucial.
In order to provide support to PanCAN, CARA has created CARA Friends with a goal in 2018 to raise $5,000 to support PanCAN’s urgent mission to save lives and double survival by 2020. We will also encourage CARA’s employees and partners to walk with us on June 24th.
“CARA is proud to support Pancreatic Cancer Action Network again in 2018. We are hopeful that our support along with others, will continue to progress our battle against this terrible form of cancer,” said Tina Jandris, COO of CARA. “We encourage all of our team members to join us on the walk or our fundraising effort as you can.”
