Welcome to the second issue of Eolas!
These are exciting times in the world of workforce learning. As the economy’s pendulum swings toward recovery, businesses are gearing up to embrace the upswing and preparing to respond. One of the strategies: strengthening corporate learning programs. There are many reasons driving this increased attention, including:
- talent shortages
- emerging technologies
- leadership development needs
- global influences
Whatever the stimulus, corporate learning programs might be just what differentiate the companies that succeed from those that do not.
The big buzz right now is how—or if—informal learning will impact formal corporate training programs. An evolution is underway and 2010 is shaping up to be the time to embrace new technologies in corporate learning, address the needs of individual learners, and support a culture of collaboration. We invite you to consider how your organization is adapting in our feature article, “The Brave New World of Informal Learning: How Web 2.0 technologies are spawning a new era in corporate learning.”
Relationships are at the core of CARA’s success, from the value our consultants and staff strive to provide our clients, to the trust and loyalty we receive from our clients in return. In this issue’s Team Spotlight we invite you to meet one of CARA’s Account Managers who cultivates these relationships and sustains the CARA culture.
Further, Eolas is Gaelic for “information, knowledge.” We appreciate the opportunity to impart information and bits of knowledge through Eolas for the betterment of all of our “friends.” As promised, we will strive to provide you with the right dose of tips and techniques to enhance your business. In addition to the feature article, this issue brings you links to resources that offer relevant industry information like the ASTD International Conference and Exposition, May 16-19, 2010; commentary on industry trends, a new case study that shares a risk management training success story and a glimpse into happenings at CARA.
We hope you enjoy this spring issue of Eolas.
Best,
Jane Ehrenstrom
Senior Vice President of The CARA Group, Inc.
